Mama Sez

You know who discovered and, I think, produced this record? Melanie. Yes, “Brand New Key” Melanie.

If Queen didn’t change gears in the late 70s and investigate R&B they might have written songs like some of these. “Mama Sez” fits on the Queen debut record.

This is the band that would change their name to their initials, L.A., and alienate their local Ohio fanbase.

You know what? You can hear the beginnings of bands like RATT on these guys and I bet if they didn’t have such inept management, they might have had a bit of hamster wheel success.

It gets a little repetitive but I really liked the old time jangle “Cleveland Boys” at the end.

Solid AOR effort.
