Requisite 80s Cover: A big, blowsy, bizarre version of “Big Yellow Taxi” that fits where it belongs, at the end. It’s really quite inventive and enjoyable and a great way to say goodbye, Mr. Gabor.
BB isn’t King. He really wants to be a New Wave Power Popper. But it’s all a bit pretentious. Like when he turns into a Russian folk singer and then pivots to Boomtown Rats-y New Waver it’s a bit of a whiplash turn. But the songs are kind of ok. So, I don’t mind it, really.
There is really no style here. By “Hunger, Poverty and Misery”, he’s full on Billy Joel. Or Frampton. It’s a weird record full of weird songs. None of them really complement each other. But they won’t really let you down.
