I know “Money Talks” and “Jacky Boy” were minor hits for Brian but they are bad songs.
And he can’t sing, he’s more of a growler, like the worst impulses of Roger Daltrey. That is, when he doesn’t sound like he wants to be John Fogerty.
But Daltrey’s swagger is earned by dint of the company and songwriting he keeps.
Plummer is undone by his own songs. And his voice.
Think Frank Turner without the tunes. And Frank’s not that great, anyway.
