How should I put this…if Simple Minds followed that pop impulse that propelled them to superstar status but was nothing like who they really were, they might’ve put out an album that sounds like this.
This is stellar synth rock with a foot planted firmly in the Moody Blues of the 70s but not so rooted that it doesn’t allow for 80s U2 type gravitas. This record is 3 years too late. Dammit, guys. Sorry.
I think they would’ve made a great tour opening for The Psychedelic Furs right around Mirror Moves.
They were one top 10 hit away from a lifelong career on the Richard Blade 80s nostalgia tour.
