And the punk gets melodic-er. 
In 9 years this sound is going to explode. I hear Husker Du all over this. But taken to a more viscerally emotional place. This is primal scream as punk. The germs of Emo. 
Terrific. 
They are inventing something new here. I mean, it’s not like they came up with Chinese-Jewish deli hybrid. But, what they’ve done is take the visceral gut punch of punk, added melody, and deepened the content. Not only had I never heard Rites of Spring before today I’d never heard OF Rites of Spring before this. 
This is the only album from Rites of Spring as these guys would go on to form Fugazi. Boy what a debut/one-off this is.
