Teenage Shooter
Well, look here. When we listened to 1982’s Fasten Seat Belts I assumed that was the only Tokyo record. But, thanks to the crack staff work here at The Listening Post Headquarters located deep in the secret ex-military base under Rock Candy Mountain, we have unearthed their debut.
A nearly unsearchable record on Apple Music, it took me a while to find it. Type in “Tokyo” and you get a LOT of other suggestions but, if you can find a song on the album that is unique enough, put spills this record.
Oh, is it still playing? Should I just write through it?
They bring the rock on “Teenage Shooter” and the vocalist sounds unlike any other song so that has me wondering if it was written by someone other than the band’s main writers. And they get their Styx on with “Carry On”.
Not enough to research it, tho.
They didn’t change from their sound after this. It’s synth-laden melodic rock that would probably see them as the 4PM opener for Journey.
Still, it isn’t awful. And the back half is much much better than the first.
