The 1981 Listening Post - Steeplechase - Steeplechase

Reviewed by Tom Mott / LISTENING POST DISCOVERY

Released: 1981 Steeplechase Steeplechase Genre: Pomposterous! Rating: 4.25 out of 5 Highlights: Only You Love Only Me Don't Go Rock & Roll Appetite The great lost Boston album has been found. Listen to the record! A lot of supergroups suck. But what if they didn't? What if you really could combine the best parts of Boston, Styx, and Journey into a pomp rock concoction that delivered 110% on all fronts? Well, you can. Listen to the record! To clarify, Steeplechase isn't a supergroup. I don't recognize the names of any of the band members or the names of the bands they moved onto. That's a shame, because this one fires on all 1,981 cylinders. Listen to the record! Great synth lines. Super-tight vocal harmonies. Clean production. The lead singer could share a stage with Brad Delp and Steve Perry. Listen to the record This sounds like the record the "Blown Away Guy" from the old Maxell Cassette Commercials must have been listening to. Listen to the record!
