Released: 1980 The Nuclear Regulatory Commission Reactor Genre: New Wave Rating: 2.25 out of 5 This self released curiosity was described as a bunch of hippies in Tennessee who were trying to rebrand themselves as New Wavers at the time. You know what? This sounds just like what a bunch of hippies would do if they were trying to rock out and incorporate 1980 styles and tropes to be relevant. I know that sounds pejorative but it’s not meant to be. The record isn’t great, and most of it is actually uninspired but, heck, there are 100,000 songs uploaded to Spotify everyday and I guarantee you this is more engaging than 99,995 of those. TNRC put on their matching aluminum outfits and put their female singer in the front (though I’m not entirely sure she was the lead singer), shaved her head and went for it. Trouble is, there isn’t a good song in the bunch.
