Released: April 20 1980 Kayak Periscope Life Genre: Prog rock Rating: 2.5 out of 5 Highlights: Astral Aliens What’s In a Name With a name like Kayak I was absolutely expecting some self produced folk rock. Boy was I surprised. This thing starts off soaring with the wings of a thousand Styx’s on a Journey to the stratosphere above Kansas before showing it’s real stripes as a sub-par Supertramp. It’s got all that late 70s medieval trapping and pomp and grandeur but, by the end, it really needed to go away.
