A solid set of New Wave of British Heavy Metal songs, with excellent dual guitar attacks that hybridizes that mid 70s glammy Kiss rock with Priest.

There’s a ton of 80s echo on this thing, which calls to mind Ratt, but they don’t have that catchy hook single. But that’s not the reason Dark Star didn’t make it. Their label went bankrupt just as the album was being dropped. I don’t know much more than that. Just a footnote in the annals of metal.

I quite enjoyed the hard left turn to California Acoustic Byrds/Eagles on “The Musician”, which is so 70s, there was a sudden recognizable smell of patchouli incense emanating from my MacBook and then we are back to that double guitar attacks and I gotta say, Dark Star won me over.
