It’s 1981. You’re a kid living in Australia. You and your friends put together a band cuz you play guitar and someone plays drums and, what the hell, that other guy can bash on the bass, right? Punk isn’t dead yet and you’ve got a ton of angst. So you get in a studio and crank your hearts out.

It sounds like everything they’ve heard from The Clash to Ramones to Radio Birdmen to Sex Pistols and everything in between, mashed together and that’s good enough for me. True to the form, nothing here overstays it’s welcome, quite the contrary, most of these come in at <2 minutes which is exactly what the form demands. However, when they do break from it, like on “Something to Say”, holy cow do they come across like amateurs with a chip on their shoulders and, that coming on the heels of “Don’t Be a Bitch” and I think there’s some toxic masculinity and depression happening down under.

That said, this is a solid example of a style of music that’s about to find its way to the dustbin of history. I wonder if they will change with the times, by which I mean…write some melodies and, you know, songs. Instead of just being Stooges clones.

I can only assume all the high ratings on Discogs come from family members. This isn’t as great as they would have readers believe.

It ends with an interview and…okay, then.  They have no personalities and don’t seem to want to be there. Like I said, Okay, then.
