Requisite 80s cover:
“Glad All Over”, with Suzi doing a Joan Jett to the classic. In fact, I’m not sure if you don’t me this was Joan I would have any reason to disbelieve you.
With Michael Chapman behind her, Suzi gives it another go, bringing that Leather Tuscadero sass and an axeful of glam dripping all over the wax.
The title track is slathered well but it really belongs on a Sweet record about 6 years earlier to get any real airplay. It’s damned good, though. And when we get to the first Quatro/Tuckey track it’s his laser focused, razor blade solos that drive an already pretty okay track.
I don’t know if the other ChinniChap track, “Lipstick” is something that was lying around or that they burned off one night in their collective sleep but it proves that they were master practitioners of the glam model.
I really like this sound. And I don’t think Suzi gets the credit she deserves. Was there re tribute album ever made? Were The Donnas on it? Should be.
