Tongue Twister
Genre: Power Pop
3.25 out of 5
Highlights:
She Satisfies
Black Vinyl Shoes.
It’s legendary.
It’s been ages since I’ve heard it.
I should fire it up again.
Shoes don’t have it here. They come across as a Cheap Trick opening band.
They suffer from the same disease that took hold of The Cars: Synthesizer dependence.
When they kick, like on “She Satisfies” it hits you, Adam Schlesinger loved Shoes. There’s no way he didn’t. “Stacy’s Mom” is ripped from the soul of these guys.
Echoes of all the bands that are coming are right here from Plimsouls to R.E.M. and beyond.
There’s an eight minute song on here that was just interminable and also weird cuz Apple Music clocks “Found a Girl” as 2:57 but I think they are lying. That was 8 solid minutes of my life lost. I swear.
