Requisite 80s Cover: “Spooky”. At least 1/4 quicker than the Atlanta Rhythm Section version we all know with all the anti-septs quality one expects from disco. “Great Balls of Fire”. Anemic & Dull.
We were at Sounds in the East Village one day, poring through the discounted vinyl and my roommate came out of that with a copy of a 12 inch by MonteVideo with a song called “Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Comma Comma Wang Dang”. I never forgot that song. There’s nothing here that’s nearly as memorable but it sure wishes there was. This will make no one you like get up on the dance floor.
