Reviewed by Chris Roberts Released: 1981 Arkitex Arkitex Genre: Electronic Pop Rating: 2.7 out of 5 My sister and I got musical instruments for Christmas in 1981. I got the Mattel Synsonic drums, she got the Casio PT-1 keyboards. We had (and still have) absolutely no musical talent or ability, but our first recordings probably included songs like Arkitex “Mosquito Park” and “Hot Diarrhea.” I know those song titles have got you queing up Spotify, hoping for a freakfest, but you’ll be sorry. Arkitex’s brand of electronic pop is just not that terrible. It just doesn’t sound finished. They need better hooks and more sounds. On the plus side, front man Vladymir Rogov sounds like he wants to be Bryan Ferry some day. And there’s a line in the song, “Love Waters,” that goes “love waters, come all over me,” that is worth a juvenile snort.
