Good Girl

It’s Only Love

Requisite 80s Cover: A dark and slinky cover of “Baby, It’s You” that I really dig.

It’s 1980 and The Cars had scored not one, but two master rekkids so it stands to reason that we would get labels to unearth a bunch of bands that are trying out that simple, driving New Wave style. This one is a bit crunchier and less charismatic, if that’s possible considering Ocasek’s warble. “And She’s Mine” sounds like a leftover from Candy-O and it probably should have stayed on the floor.

Bob Clearmountain was the engineer here so A&M put some cash into the project. But the songs really aren’t there.

We are missing 2 tracks, so points off for that…leaves us with…

A shame because I would love to have heard more from these Cheap Trick wannabes.
