Don’t Do That
You know what this reminds me of? Joe Jackson. There’s an effortlessness to the songsmithing. Like they can do these in their sleep, and maybe they did. I can see Squeeze writing “City Bound (E Train)” and putting on U.K. Squeeze. It’s not really about anything other than being on the subway. And it pulsates like you’re on a…subway. Get it? These guys. Such minxes they are.
There’s faux reggae and smooth rock, the kind of stuff you would expect from someone who played with Santana. Nothing is offensively bad, all of it is perfectly acceptable Police-esque late 70s rock (see: “Sorry for the Delay”) and every song is a minute and a half too long.
All that said, it’s a totally enjoyable record and I really can’t say anything bad about it.
