Here Comes the Night

Genre: David Johansen

David Jo is the ultimate showman. I first saw him open for The Ramones at Ramapo College in 1980. I became a fast fan. He is a whole lot of fun.

I Consider “ Here Comes the Night to be a pretty good album.  It doesn’t hold a candle to 1978’s self titled album. This is the first album without NY dolls band mate Sylvain Sylvain. He wanted to move away from the Doll’s style. It worked.  It’s a pretty food album.

track 1-She Loves Strangers. Fun song

track 2- Bohemian Love Pad- after this revisit, I can’t stop singing this

3- You Fool You

4- My Obsession

5- Marquessa De Sade, This is my favorite track. There is some serious Buster Poindexter foreshadowing here. I often saw Buster Poindexter in his very early days . He played at a small club ( Tramps). This song was aways on the playlist. Small club, amazing band, lots of fun.

I love the percussion ( Ulysses Delavega)

6- Here comes the Night- Fun Rocker

7-Suspicion

8- Party Tonight, Yeah fun. Elliot Murphy on Rhythm guitar

9- Havin so Much Fun- Love his vocals here. Bobby Blaines piano excellent.

10- Rollin Job

11- Heart of Gold “ Younthink I’m a whore but I got a Heart of Gold“ Another song that made it into Buster‘s repotoire. Love it. Elliot Murphy’s harmonica is awesome.

I give it a 4 out of 5
