There’s NO info on this band. I mean, a teensy teensy bit. Wait! In the comments of the Willfully Obscure blog there was this nugget. The home page of the creator of this band. http://www.anemonehoneymoon.com/SteveBettshome.html
Remarkable that a bunch of players could put out a record as assured as this and on the cutting edge of a burgeoning sound and no one knows anything about them.
“Hirohito” may be an excuse to play some stuff, lyrically, it’s bereft, but it explodes into an instrumental that is sort of exceptional and burns right into the euro tinged “Osterreich”.
Betts had a unique take on music and a vision for his own stuff. What he created was pretty terrific and if you happened to grab it in a cutout bin I bet you loved the shit out of it.
“Ballroom Debut” is as lovely as anything, musically, that Elvis Costello would try on Imperial Bedroom. And “Dusters” gives Danny Elfman a run for all of his money.
