The Stooges and MC5 flamed out, but straight-edge Ted Nugent took that Detroit energy, added a dash of Sam the Sham, swung in on a Tarzan vine, and ran victory laps around the stage. This is loud-and-fast rock. Crunchy-late-70s-arena rock. Nazarath-UFO-April Wine-Slade-Foghat-Billy Squier-Grand Funk Railroad-Dr. Feelgood rock. Oversized-plastic-comb-in-the-back-pocket rock. Girls-with-feathered-hair-and-fedoras rock. Burn-your-disco-albums rock. Hot-for-Teacher rock. The album kicks off with three killer tracks and never lets up. And the production is fantastic: It's clean, crisp, and burns like rocket fuel. I don't agree with The Nuge's politics, but this album transcends. A big surprise for me. Well done!
