Doomsday for the Deceiver
I don’t really know my Metallica history all that well. I watched about 70% of Some Kind of Monster and that was pretty much it. So I had no idea that Jason Newsted was in a band before he joined up for …And Justice for All. This could be Metallica or Megadeth or Slayer for all intents. But Jason wrote all the lyrics, so that’s a skill he didn’t really get to practice with Hetfield taking on all those duties for Metallica.
As for thrash-ability? What happens a lot (to me, at least) in this genre is that it all begins to sound alike and one track could easily be another. That’s happening here. It isn’t until the title track breaks up the monotony with requisite classical acoustic intro.
