A PERSONAL DISCOVERY. Straight-ahead, mellow, roots-rock and I dig it. Jupp was on Stiff, pals with Dave Edmonds and Nick Lowe, tight with Dr Feelgood and Procol Harum. He's like a British Doug Sahm who just locks in with restraint and delivers over and over and over. Why have I never heard of him? Fantastic live video on YouTube of him breathing fresh life into Chuck Berry's "Memphis" -- one of the great rock songs of all time IMO. This album probably isn't a full 4.0. I'm throwing in goodwill points for discovering him and for the smattering of live YouTube videos (not from this album). Breakin' the rules and I don't care!
