Released: 1981 Secret Service Ye Si Ca Genre: Pop - Swedish Pop (emphasis on the Swedish part) Rating: 4 out of 5 Highlights: Ye Si Ca Ye Si Ca is a solid album. Upon my first blind listen, I thought to myself, what a nice intersection of a whole bunch of genres popular in the early 80’s. It’s a pop album for sure, but there are defintely hints of ska, new wave, synth pop, maybe a little disco and punk riffs/themes thrown into this very gentle, generally angst free album. Both the lyric content and the sound of this album (and maybe of the band in general) are not so much restrained (a la Ingmar Bergman) as much as pleasant and untortured, but without being shallow - which pop sometimes can be. Overall, its a great listen. Then I did a little research on the band and found out they were Swedish. And everything I had thought and what I just wrote above, I think can be summed up in the word Swedish (not that I know so much about Sweden).
