Reviewed by Allen Lulu Released: 1980 Jackson Highway Jackson Highway Genre: Southern Rock Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Requisite 80s cover: A country boogie version of "Rave On”, which I actually sort of adore. All that was missing was a giant horn section. Long ago, before Facebook obliterated them, I used to read music blogs. This was after music blogs obliterated music mags. (And now music mags are sort of back, I think) One of them covered a band called Bandit and their record Partners in Crime. They hated it. I remember not hating it and thinking it was mediocre but, in retrospect, it was not good. I can’t find that blog anymore and the only one that seems to have reviewed it was Robots for Ronnie, and that was, indeed a blog I used to read. Anyway. This album reminds me of Bandit’s. It’s pretty standard riff and roll. The lyrics are on the nose and kind of terrible (like Bandit’s). The songs are uninventive (like Bandit’s). This is not Doc Holliday. But they avail themselves okay because as musicians they understand the assignment.
