Released: 1980 George Hatcher Band Coming Home Genre: Southern Rock Rating: 3.75 out of 5 Highlights: Coming Home When I think of “Southern Rock” from the 80s I think of Marshall Tucker or Charlie Daniels. When I think of Southern Rock in the 00s I think of Drive By Truckers. When I think of it today I think of Goodbye June and The Temperance Movement. Somewhere in the middle of all that is George Hatcher. Yes, it’s Southern but it’s really a jam band with excellent riffs and terrific solos. Like, what if Eric Johnson decided to start a Southern Rock band? The band can play. George sounds good. The production is stellar. And the songs are as unmemorable as one would expect from a band that you’ve never heard of.
