What’s wrong with this list?
The Bolshoi wasn’t bigger than half of those bands. I say this because the record is less morose than Bauhaus or Mercy and doesn’t take itself as seriously as Furs or even The Cure. In fact I think it’s got more in common with the late 60s Psychedlia that the Echo and his Bunnymen crafted so well.
In the end I’m not sure The Bolshoi was commercial as much as they were skilled at this sound but, boy did I enjoy this record a helluva lot. Imagine if Adam Ant fronted The Psychedelic Furs.
